What I don’t think we’ve grappled with is the implications of sending our labor out past the present small, largely ferociously noncommercial model of the fediverse and into machinery like Meta’s-where that labor turns into, in essentially the most boneheaded formulation, something to smash between adverts for flimsy bras and stupid trucks and $30 eco-pleasant ear swabs, and in more subtle formulations, a solution to squeeze but more behavioral knowledge out of Threads customers to sell onward to advertisers.
